Sony Music was founded as American Recorded Corporation in 1929. In 1938, CBS Corporation took ownership of the company & changed the name to Columbia recording corporation & later Columbia Records inc & CBS Records. In 1987, Sony became the owners of the company & renamed it to its current name of Sony Music.
