SONG CHOICE

still feel - half•alive

half•alive is an American band from Long Beach, California. The band was formed in 2016 & consists of lead singer, Josh Taylor, drummer Brett Kramer & bassist J Tyler Johnson.

I chose this song as I feel it highly suits the aesthetic & vibes I will try & convey within my music video. After surveying a selection of young adults, I knew I needed my music video to meet specific requirements in order to attract the desired target audience. 

For example, I found that some of the most popular music genres were rock, alternative / indie & pop. Choosing a song by half•alive is very correspondent to this as their music combines all of these genres. 

I also found that music videos are considered more popular when they focus on performance rather than narrative. The upbeat tempo of the song will allow me to choreograph a performance style dance routine. I feel as though this will be effective considering the interests of my target audience. 

Lead singer of half•alive, Josh Taylor stated that the song still feel is about feeling distant from yourself. This is represented through the lyrics as well as the 'floaty' sound they have created. The lyrics make various links to being without gravity & metaphors of outer space. I will incorporate this concept into my work & portray it visually in numerous ways to make my music video relate to the song.
